Peer Leadership
Previously, Laura Meehan taught music and special education, then served at a high school on the administrative team in Hillsborough County, where she led efforts to foster a positive and equitable school culture. She worked closely with staff, families and community partners to implement data-driven, culturally responsive practices that met the diverse needs of all students. She also served as director of education development and strategy at Workforce Development Partners, leading programming and curriculum design efforts aligned to workforce innovation and regional needs. A published researcher and frequent presenter, Meehan's research explores the intersection of educational leadership and special education, the role of teacher leadership in community impact and developing young leaders.
Meehan is committed to bridging the gap between schools, research and the broader community. She is a member of Leadership Florida, the Tampa Bay Chamber, Tampa Bay Partnership, ÌýUSF Women in Leadership and Philanthropy, the Florida LEAD Network, and the Council for Exceptional Children, and she currently serves on the board of Walk Bike Tampa Bay and the USF Anchin Center for the Advancement of Teaching. In addition, Meehan is an Ironman triathlete, enjoys participating in endurance events and often volunteers to support women in sports.
