For all other applicants:

  • Must hold a current Florida Professional Teaching Certificate, bachelor’s degree in an area of education, statement of eligibility for Florida Professional Teaching Certificate or professional teaching certificate from another state
  • Official transcript(s) from all colleges and/or universities previously attended
  • Completed application

  • Two reference forms

  • Personal statement addressing the reason for seeking an advanced degree
  • TOEFL for those applicants whose primary language is not English

The program welcomes applications from individuals who have strong academic, school leadership and teaching records and who have experience and interest in educational leadership. To be accepted, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Completed applicationÌýfor the University
  • $40 application fee
  • Official transcripts for all previous college work received directly from each institution
  • Applicants must have earned a four-year degree from a regionally accredited institution in the subject area designated by their intended program.
  • Applicants need to have an overall GPA of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0, or a minimum of 3.0 in the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate study.
  • Demonstration of instructional expertise as indicated by a rating of effective or higher on the performance of students and instructional practices sections of the applicant’s two most recent performance evaluations as reported by the evaluating school administrator.
  • Demonstration of leadership potential (defined as critical skills and dispositions candidates demonstrate prior to entering the program). Leadership potential is an evaluation of the applicant’s relentless focus on improving student achievement and contributing to demonstrable improvement of teaching effectiveness in classrooms of colleagues as reported by the evaluating school administrator.Ìý
  • Current teaching certificate.Ìý
  • A minimum of at least two years successful teaching experience
  • Two letters of recommendation from educational peers or supervisors, one of which is the current or most recent supervisor.

  • Personal statement addressing why they seek a graduate-level degree
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for applicants whose primary language is not English.Ìý
  • Interview – the applicant may be asked to partake in an admission interview as part of the admission process.

Note: A background check will be conducted on applicants. Candidates in the graduate program are required to submit a Criminal Record Information Form which entails a complete criminal background check.Ìý
